Account emails

The emails we send about your trial, plan and student limit, and who gets them.

Flash Reference emails your organization about its account. These go to the people with the Billing role, or to your admins if nobody has it. They can't be turned off, because they're about keeping students' access running.

Email When
Welcome to Flash Reference! A few minutes after you sign up, to the person who signed up.
Your trial ends … About a week before your free trial ends, and again the day before.
Students can no longer open your decks When your trial or plan has ended and students can't open your decks from your LMS.
… is close to its plan's student limit When active students reach 90% of your plan's limit.
… is over its plan's student limit When active students go over the limit, then monthly while it lasts.
Join … on Flash Reference To each person you invite.

Tips during your trial

During a free trial, whoever gets the account emails also gets a few tips, until they've done what each is about:

Email When
Make your first deck in a few minutes The day after you sign up, if there's no deck yet.
Connect Flash Reference to your LMS Two days after you sign up, if your LMS or website isn't connected.
How flashcards help your students learn After four days, to everyone on a trial.
Turn the notes you already have into flashcards After six days, if there's still no deck.
Why students open Flash Reference from your LMS After eight days, if your LMS or website still isn't connected.
Try Flash Reference with your instructors After ten days, if you haven't invited anyone.
Keep your decks inside your courses After thirteen days, if your LMS or website still isn't connected.
Can I help you make your first deck? After sixteen days, if there's still no deck.

They stop when you choose a plan, and they're always at least 12 hours apart from each other and from the other account emails. Unlike those, you can turn them off: select Unsubscribe at the bottom of one, or turn off Tips during your free trial in Notification settings, from the menu under your name.

Emails instructors get

Deck owners also get When a deck gets its first student and Weekly results, which they can turn off. See Emails and announcements. As an admin who owns decks, you get these too.

Announcements

We sometimes send news about Flash Reference, like new features or planned maintenance, to admins, instructors or both. They come by email and in the bell at the top of the admin and instructor dashboards. Each person can turn either off in Notification settings, from the menu under their name. See Emails and announcements.
